CAN CARE FORMATION BE PREVENTED?
With the detection of microorganisms that cause tooth decay in the 1960s, vaccines and drugs that can completely prevent caries were tried to be developed, but despite the developments so far, sufficient success has not been achieved. The reason for this is that the medications or vaccines administered are found in high levels in blood-plasma, while in saliva at no or insufficient levels. However, the structure of the tooth can be strengthened by various methods such as fluoride and fissure sealant applications.
FISSUR COVERING AND FLORID APPLICATIONS
One of the most common and effective protective applications; It is the material we call “FISSURE COVER”. Dental caries usually begins in the grooves called “fissures” on the chewing surfaces of molars and premolars. With this material, the troughs are covered and germs, food residues, etc. Leakage of the caries is prevented by preventing the onset. This process should be applied to all molars and small molars that have just erupted before the decay starts.
Another way to prevent caries is to increase the resistance of teeth to caries. This resistance is gained by applying “FLUORID” superficial to the teeth. It has various forms such as gel, mouthwash and varnish for children and various flavors such as strawberry, apricot, and orange. It is applied every 6 months under the supervision of the physician.
